The protagonist of the story you’re reading is not necessarily the protagonist of the story someone else is reading.
Ten to one they won’t include very much of her. They’re barely including Lydia enough, so what do you really think they’ll do with Mary?
As much as I like The LBD, like all versions of P&P it really does always come down to Lizzie, Lizzie, Lizzie… Just once, and in this retelling particularly. I’d like to know what’s going on with Lydia. Not just a brief humorous look at her character, but something that really shows what’s going on with her.
Argh. It really isn’t that I dislike the other characters, I don’t. It’s just tiring not seeing more of characters like Lydia and Mary.
I don’t know what the threshold of “include very much of her” is considering I feel we’ve done more for the Lydia Bennet character at this point in the story than any other filmed adaptation ever. But I’ll warn everyone that I would not mirror this bet. ;)
Thanks for watching.
